Talk to a Bail Bond Agent to Get Your Loved One out of Jail

If your loved one has been arrested, one of the options you may have is to pay bail for them. In most cases, the judge will set a certain amount and you can either pay the full amount or you can pay a bond. A bond is usually a percentage of the bail, and that's the amount that you need to come up with. However, most people can't come up with that amount all at once, which is where a bail bond agent comes into play.

Bond Agent

Bond agents are usually located by the jail or the courts which makes it easier for you to find one who you can work with. The agent will look at your loved one's case to see what kind of case they have. The bond agent is also going to look to see if they think that your loved one is a flight risk. The bond agent isn't going to want to write a bond for someone that they think might run. If they did they would be out a lot of money, both in the bond and in having to track the person down so that they can go to their court appearance. Once the bail bond agent has looked into the case and made sure they're not a flight risk, they will write the bond and you can take it to the court and get your loved one released. If you are going to work with a bond agent, there are going to be some things that you are going to need to have.

Collateral

One of the things that you are going to need is collateral. When the bond agent writes the bond, it's only going to be a percentage of the bail, so you don't need to come up with some kind of collateral that covers the whole bail price, but it will have to be at least as much as the bond. So, if the bond is going to be $10,000, you need to have something that is worth at least $10,000 to use as collateral. That will generally be something like a car.

If your loved one has been arrested, you need to do what you can to make sure that they are taken care of. That can mean going to see a bail bond agent so that you can get your loved one out of jail until their court date shows up on the calendar.
